Pre + Post Care
Pre-Appointment
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Please wear as little facial makeup as possible on the day of your procedure. It is okay to fill in your brows before if you wish for me to see how you like to wear them daily, or bring reference photos.
If you prefer to have your eyebrows waxed/threaded please do so at least 48 hours before your appointment, otherwise you can let your brows grow out and we can remove stray hairs after we design your brows.
You must have NO sun/tanning bed exposure for 30 days before your procedure. Sun exposure/damage can result in loss of pigment or increased darkening of healed brow color.
You must not use Retin-A (Vitamin A) or Glycolic Acid for at least two weeks before your appointment.
Do not work out or exercise the day of your appointment.
You cannot take any medications that may thin your blood (i.e. Asprin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E) 72 hours before your procedure.
Do not drink alcohol the night before or day of your procedure.
Avoid caffeine the day of your appointment.
Doing any of the above may cause bleeding, which will affect how well your body retains pigment.
As with every tattoo, we recommend avoiding pools, salt water and extreme sun exposure for at least two weeks following your appointment, so make vacation plans accordingly!
Post-Appointment
Brow Aftercare
After the topical anesthetic wears off you may feel some tenderness on and around the tattooed area. You may also experience slight swelling and redness the day of your procedure; this is normal and typically fades within 24—48 hours. At this point you may take Tylenol if you feel any pain, but avoid Aspirin or Ibuprofen as it can cause blood thinning.
The tattooed area will appear darker and bolder immediately after the procedure, but will soften and fade as your skin heals in the coming days and weeks. The color of your brows may also appear warmer (more red). This is 100% normal.
Using the cleanser provided, gently clean off the area 2—3 hours after the procedure. Begin using the provided cleanser morning and night for 10 days. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and air dry the tattooed area for a few minutes.
Apply a small amount of the provided healing balm 2—3 times a day (after each wash and once in the middle of the day if needed) for the next 10 days.
It is important that for 10 days following your procedure you keep your tattoo dry between washes. NO soaking or use of other cleansers, lotions and ointments.
Avoid excessive sweating for 10—14 days and blot your brows should they become sweaty or oily throughout the day.
On day 10 you may begin washing your face as normal, however I recommend using mild and unscented soap to wash your brows. Exfoliating products for acne or anti-aging will cause brows to prematurely fade.
DO NOT apply makeup to the tattooed area for 10—14 days following the procedure.
DO NOT pick and scratch at your tattoo as it heals. Let your skin naturally exfoliate and flake off.
You MUST AVOID extreme sun exposure, swimming and/or soaking the tattooed area in pools, Jacuzzis or the ocean for at least 14 days while your tattoo heals.
If you plan on receiving chemical peels, laser treatments or an MRI in the weeks following your tattoo, please inform your technician or doctor that you have been tattooed as these may cause irritation, burning and discoloration of your tattoo.
After 14 days you may begin applying sunscreen to the area to help retain pigment color.
Cosmetic tattoos take between 6—8 weeks to fully heal. At this time you may receive your touch-up if any color has faded, or if you would simply like to add more definition to your tattoo.
It is extremely important that you follow our aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and color retention. Results vary from client to client.
